OneConnect, a division of Globalive Communications, and FirstHand Technologies announced an agreement under which OneConnect will deliver a voice mobility solution for BlackBerry users. By partnering with FirstHand Technologies, OneConnect becomes one of the first companies in North America to deploy desktop phone functionality to Blackberry users via the Nortel network.

As part of the new agreement, OneConnect is offering its clients a trial version of FirstHand Mobile Assistant for Blackberry devices. OneConnect plans to deliver a full commercial service in the first quarter of 2007.

"By adapting OneConnect's current software suites to include enterprise VoIP functionality from FirstHand Technologies, clients will have access to a complete package for all communicative needs," said Joy Rychlick, vice president of sales and marketing at OneConnect.

"We believe OneConnect's deployment of our solution provides a strong incentive to its customers to invest in and stay with OneConnect," said James LaPalme, vice president of sales, FirstHand Technologies. "Mobile Assistant gives OneConnect customers access to the most advanced feature-rich portfolio of enterprise mobility software in the market today."

Using FirstHand Mobile Assistant on their Blackberry device, OneConnect enterprise clients will be able to call someone by simply clicking an entry from their corporate directory, buddy list, recent calls, or group calls list; see how many voice mails are on their office desk phone; check the presence and availability of co-workers; sort through the corporate directory; perform instant messaging; enable group calls and IM multicast; sort through call logs of their desktop phone and deliver calls to a temporary number.

OneConnect is a provider of Hosted IP Communications and has delivered business solutions to clients across North America.
