Americans are increasingly becoming a nation dominated by tablets and, to support this claim, comes the most recent research provided by The Pew Internet & American Life Project.

According to them, tablets continue to be the rock stars of this age and currently 50% of American own a dedicated handheld device. It can be either a tablet (like the iPad or Nexus 7) or an eReader (like the Kindle of Nook), but US residents can't seem to get enough of either.

Since September, tablet ownership amongst Americans has increased with 7% from the previous 43%. This result is more likely due to the fact that a lot of people purchased tablets as gift during the holiday season which just ended.

Also, owning a tablet or eReader seems to be beneficial from a cultural point of view, as owners of these gadgets tend to use them in digital reading activities.
