If you needed more proof that we’re a species addicted to tablets, here’s some fresh evidence for you to mull over. A newly published poll found that 27% of children based in the UK and aged under eight currently own a tablet computer.

So according to the new info coming to us via Uswitch, one in four British kids have a slate they use on a regular basis. Moving on, the study shows 17% of young tableters were two or three of age when they first learned to use touch screens and 10% of them where actually under two.

USwitch Telecoms Spokesman, Ernest Doku commented on the finding saying “the term ‘early adopters’ now has a whole new meaning, with today’s kids knowing their way around the latest tech before they’re out of nappies.”

The research also found 84% of parents indulged their children’s passion for technology in the past year, by spending a total of £5.6 / $9.15 / €7 billion on tablets (each spending £462 / $755 / €555 on average). The holiday season that just came to an end, contributed heavily to the numbers.
