People are not necessarily looking for a date on Tinder

Since Tinder is a dating app meant to help people find their other half, most users would expect to come across loners such as themselves. However, this is not always the case, and there is a study to show it.

After an in-depth analysis of those using the social platform, GlobalWebIndex came up with some astonishing results: almost a third of Tinder users are already involved in a relationship. So, it makes you wonder, if they already have romance in their lives, then what are they doing on the platform supposedly made for those who are lacking in that perspective?

One might think that they are probably not in a serious relationship and that they could be on the lookout for a more suitable partner, but the same study shows that some of the people using the app are actually married. Then, what is it that makes them swipe left and right?

Tinder is the perfect place to start an affair

It seems that the now famous dating app was initially casual-encounter focused and this is why people who are already committed are looking for one-night stands with people who are relatively close by.

For them, the app represents the easiest and most effective way to find someone to cheat your spouse with. But it’s not just men that use this trick. On the contrary, the same study shows that the percentage of women who go looking for extramarital affairs is significantly bigger than that of men.

However easy it may be to build a short-term relationship on the dating app, married people should take into consideration that it can be just as risky, as they might swipe right to their significant other’s profile.

It should be mentioned that not all married people use the app for this sort of misfits, some of them just create a profile to find a friend or two in the area they are living, given that the application is location-based.
