Just a few days ago some rumors made it to the Web that stated OnLive was getting ready to take on Netflix and other video streaming services with their own such offering, but now OnLive CEO Steven Perlman corrected this ideas stating his company has no interest in competing with Netflix.

Speaking with Steve Perlman, GamePro reports have found out that his statements were taken out of context, OnLive's CEO claiming that he only said “OnLive can deliver any experience that Netflix can.”

However, this does not mean that OnLive plans to take on Netflix when it comes to video content streaming, Steve Perlman also saying that with a staff of only 200 people trying to pad out a library of 40+ games across six different platforms, it wouldn't make much sense to challenge Netflix that already has an important movie library.

Attempting such a feat would mean that many of the company's resources should be used for growing a movie library, the effort not being worth it.

However, although OnLive has no plans to compete with Netflix, Steven Perlman did state that the company had plans to bring video streaming to its console since they wanted to provide users with “a complete entertainment experience.”

What that actually means is open to discussion, as OnLive could plan to establish partnerships with some of the most important names in the video streaming industry, such as Netflix, Hulu and Vudu, in order to deliver such applications to their console.

With video streaming quickly becoming one of the most important trends in the home entertainment industry, establishing partnerships with such services would be a great step forwards for OnLive as other consoles already provide their users with access to different streaming movie providers, a wide series of HDTVs also coming with such applications installed.
