According to a paper recently published in the journal Personality and Social Psychology Review, a person's IQ influences one's views on religion, and can determine whether or not one will embrace it.

Not to beat about the bush, researchers say that, on average (and I cannot stress this bit enough), atheists are more intelligent than religious people are.

By the looks of it, the higher a person's IQ is, the more inclined the individual is not to accept dogmas and beliefs they are presented with, and instead opt for forming their own view of the world, The Telegraph reports.

The University of Rochester scientists behind these claims concluded that smart people were less likely to be religious after compiling and analyzing data presented by 63 other scientific studies.

Of these, 53 showed that there was “a reliable negative relation between intelligence and religiosity.”
