UI's ported to handsets from different makers

The Redmond-based software giant delivered to the market about two months ago the latest flavor of its mobile operating system, the Windows Mobile 6.5, which is now available on a wide range of handsets all around the world. Among these devices, there are some that appeal to most to users, such as the HTC HD2, Samsung Omnia II, Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, or the HTC Touch Pro2.

Each and every one of these handsets is capable of delivering a great experience to users not only due to the hardware specifications they come around with, but also courtesy of the software solutions they pack inside. However, through “software solution” we do not refer to the Microsoft OS, but to the user interface that each manufacturer has thrown over the WM platform: HTC Sense for the HD2 and Touch Pro2, the Samsung TouchWiz for Omnia II, or the Xperia Panels for the Sony Ericsson device.

While these UI solutions go deeper than simple interfaces, and they seem to work great on the handsets they have been specifically developed for, it is quite interesting to see them ported to other devices, and also to see how these phones handle them. This, some people with initiative took the Sense out of HD2 and loaded it on the Samsung Omnia II, while also posting a video with their achievement. A quick look at the video below will show you how it works at the moment (the development is in progress, it seems).

At the same time, others got the Xperia X2 Panel Manager and the Xperia Panels, users of a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 should already know what the panels are all about, and ported them to the HTC Touch Pro2. Those interested in learning what resulted from this combination should check the two photos attached to this article to learn a little more. While this is not official, it does look great on other devices than Sony Ericsson's ones, and pocketnow even says that Touch Pro2 might not be the only one to support it.
