Olympus has already unveiled their strategy for 2014 with a focus on the mirrorless camera segment as well as on the release of new OM-D premium products.

In a recent interview, Yukihiko Sugita of the Olympus Imaging Development Division announced that the Japanese manufacturer was also planning to add new lenses to their current MFT lens lineup.

According to 43rumors, Olympus will launch a new 25mm f/1.8 lens sometime late January-early February along with a new low-end OM-D model.

It seems that the new lens will be cheaper than the Panasonic 4/3 Leica Summilux 25mm f/1.4 lens, which currently is priced around $600 / €436.

At the same time, the new Olympus 25mm f/1.8 lens will have a somewhat thicker body than the current Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 lens.

For the moment, no further information about this lens was disclosed, but expect to hear more about it in the coming weeks.
