Although China is the most important polluter in the world, it is also considered one of the most eco-conscious nations when it comes to its original recycling strategies.

Instead of sending Christmas lights to local landfills, Chinese workers are diverting the impressive amount of waste, almost 20 million pounds of no-longer-used decorations discarded every year, to a recycling plant located in Shijiao, SlashGear informs.

In a world sheltering 7 billion individuals, everything has to be reused several times and the people working in the Shijiao-based factory are fully aware of this fact.

Using shredders they come up with tiny parts, mixed with water to obtain a muddy substance, which is almost solid. The final product is a brand new pair of slippers.

Even though it sounds like a gross job, it helps create new objects while preserving water. The dirty water used in the process goes in a recovery system so it can be used over and over again.
