Promises one amazing ride come April 17

With the official poster for “Crank: High Voltage” released a couple of weeks ago, Lionsgate is taking the promo campaign for this sequel up a notch by also throwing in the first trailer, just to get fans’ hopes up. In all fairness, if this short clip is any indication as to what audiences should expect from “Crank,” it will be one amazing ride filled with explosive scenes and plenty of fists being thrown around on both sides.

“Crank: High Voltage” is the sequel to the 2006 “Crank” and, at the same time, one of the few movies that fans and critics alike thought it would be impossible to make because there is only so much one can take of this type of action film. Nevertheless, the movie crew showed that not only was this possible, but also potentially lucrative: “High Voltage” was thus brought to light through a little artifice that is called a fake heart, as you will see for yourselves in the trailer posted below.

Now, critics are saying, Jason Statham is an above-average actor, yet he seems obstinate enough to stick to making action flicks such as this one, which don’t fare so well with critics. Be that a matter of personal choice or of being typecast is not the real issue here. The point is that, for fans of this kind of movies, “Crank: High Voltage” will offer the same amount of “mad” fun, if not even more, than the first one.

What fans must bear in mind when seeing this film, set for release on April 17, is that it requires they have lots of patience with it, as well as close their eyes every now and then to the absurdities showed onscreen. Like, to name just one instance also seen in the trailer, as one fan humorously puts it on a dedicated forum, “the kind of guy who kills a ton of guys and grabs live transformers isn’t the type to use gently tap the touchscreen of an iPhone. He should make calls on a steak.”

Below is the trailer for “Crank: High Voltage.” See it for yourselves and judge afterwards if it’s worth your time.
