Motorola Mobility and Verizon Wireless launched the DROID RAZR HD last month, but the smartphone ships with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box.

However, the US-based handset maker officially confirmed a Jelly Bean upgrade would be delivered to all DROID RAZR HD and DROID RAZR MAXX HD owners sometime this year.

True to its promise, Motorola currently works on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean updates for DROID RAZR HD and the folks over at DroidRzr have just found evidence to prove it.

It looks like an official version of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean ROM for DROID RAZR HD has just appeared on Motorola’s servers and DroidRzr have been able to extract and release it online for everyone to test it.

This build is tagged with the 9.1.39 number and is likely to be an early version of the update, which has yet to be pushed through at Verizon Wireless.

Although this is not the final OTA (over the air) update for DROID RAZR HD, those who wish to test it on their devices can do so following a specific procedure.

Keep in mind that while this hasn’t been confirmed yet, this Jelly Bean build should be compatible with DROID RAZR MAXX HD as well. The update can be installed on both DROID RAZR HD devices that run the latest build 0.7.2.

It is also worth mentioning that users don’t need to be rooted in order to flash this leaked Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. Obviously, users won’t have any problems flashing this build on their rooted DROID RAZR HD devices.
