An illustrative example in this regard is the “Getting started with Microsoft Office 2010” documentation offered free of charge via the Microsoft Download Center. As the official label implies, the “Getting started with Microsoft Office 2010” doc is set up to offer a comprehensive overview over the successor of Office 2007. The resource covers not only the Office 2010 suite as a whole, but also the individual components included into the package.
“This book provides an overview of the Microsoft Office 2010 suites and information about how to get started with Office 2010. The audience for this book includes IT generalists, IT operations, help desk and deployment staff, IT messaging administrators, and consultants. As the Redmond company indicated, while the Getting Started guide is an excellent resource, especially in offline scenarios, customers can also find the information included in the standalone doc online. All they have to do is make their way to TechNet and browse through the Office 2010 Resource Kit.
“The Microsoft Office 2010 Resource Kit provides information about new features and changes in deployment strategies for Office 2010. The documentation is intended for IT professionals who plan, implement, and maintain Office installations in their organizations. New and updated content will be published on a regular basis,” the company revealed.
Of course, the best way to get an insight on Office 2010 is to actually run the productivity suite. Following the RTM and General Availability milestones of Office 2010, the Redmond company started offering trial versions of the productivity suite for free.
