14 DAY TRIAL // Microsoft indicated that by mid-2008 it had sold in excess of 120 million licenses of the Office 2007 System, in tandem with the 180 million copies of Windows Vista shipped. Following the RTM of Windows Vista Service Pack 1, the Redmond giant introduced new discounted prices for the Home Premium and Ultimate editions of the operating system. While Microsoft's remaining flagship product did not benefit from a similar initiative at the start of 2007, Office 2007 has now finally got its turn. A pair of Office 2007 SKUs, aimed at the "back to school" consumer segment, are available with slashed prices, courtesy of Microsoft.
Office Home and Student 2007 is the edition last affected by the discounts, and will be sold for approximately $169. "At the hot new price of $169, you can be sure this will be a popular offer so get to your local participating retailer and purchase today! Recommended promotional retail price for fully packaged product versions. The price you actually pay will be determined by the retailer," revealed a member of the Microsoft NZ student team.
This offering is limited according to the stocks available, Microsoft informed. The past week, the Redmond giant breathed new life into The Ultimate Steal program, an initiative also aimed at students. Via The Ultimate Steal, Microsoft is offering licenses of Office 2007 Ultimate for as little as $59.95, which is a 91% deduction. Initially available only in the U.S., Australia, Mexico, Taiwan, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, The Ultimate Steal is planned to encompass additional markets.
