I bet Paris Hilton would buy it

Just when I was going to say that the week started with nothing dumb I was proven wrong: something painfully ridiculous and so close to futility appeared that I just had to write down some lines about it.

We're speaking the 80's legend, the gettoblaster: the large boombox delivering deafening sound from tapes, no matter whether it was rap or rock. Stupidly large tape players loaded with colored lights brighter by the volume and swinging to the beat, with people dancing around them and all the crap. Yeah, some times they were...

Now, don't you think that the blaster died away! A German designer, Dirk Winkel by the name, has though of bringing back the ghettoblaster spirit and is now offering us the Nu Blaster.

Nu Blaster is one contemporary piece of music: back in the 80's there were tapes and vinyls, now there are iPods and cellphones... "something's gotta give" they say. Well, in the end it looks like the ghettoblaster evolved and gladly accepts the music from iPods.

The Nu Blaster isn't at all a nasty thing to look at: the bulgy shape has two reasons, as Dirk himself says: "The HEAD of the blaster provides space for a large bass speaker and the long narrow end of the horn-like (thus audiophile) shape serves as a bass reflex tube".

One can carry the Nu Blaster like a shoulder bag using the nylon strap or carry it around on the shoulder, pretty much the ol' gan'sta way. Aside from the acoustical issues, it's the very purpose of the Nu Blaster that is laughable.

No info yet on the power and operation times. But I guess the ones who'll go for the blaster care too little about such issues. Too bad, I would have liked to know for how long I can be ridicule and Nu blast around.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
