It's been quite a while since we heard any news coming from Ocosmos' part since Intel briefly flashed the OSC1 UMPC at IDF 2010, but it seems like the company has been busy at work finalizing the Oak Trail running OSC1, latest report suggesting this is scheduled to reach us in Q1 2011.

According to the company, the release date actually depends if they can find carriers interested in selling their gadget, as they want the OCS1 to be party subsidized by a carrier.

However, moving past the whole availability business, according to UMPC Portal, the Ocosmos OSC1 will be powered by either a 1.5GHz or 1.9GHz Oak Trail CPU and will feature a 400Mhz GPU with HD decoding, 720p encoding capabilities, the Oak Trail architecture also coming with special purpose MP3 decoding hardware.

Furthermore, the device will come with a 5-inch 1024x768 capacitative touchscreen as well as WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, a wide selection of ports and inputs being also available, including HDMI, USB and a microSD card slot.

Other features include a dual-camera setup that makes use of a 5-megapixels snapper on the back and a 1.3-megapixels in the front, a QWERTY keyboard being revealed once you slide the display up.

Thanks to the improvements brought to the Atom architecture, the Oak Trail platform can deliver up to a “50% reduction in average power consumption with full HD-video playback” according to Intel.

As a result, Ocosmos states the OSC1 will be able to achieve 10hrs of runtime from a full charge, although UMPC Portal says about 3 hours is a lot more likely with the standard battery, a higher capacity power pack offering 5 to 7 hours of operating time.

As stated earlier, the company wants to release the OSC1 in Q1 2011, AT&T or Korea Telecoms being deemed as the most likely carrier partners.
