14 DAY TRIAL // Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Sea, the iOS AAA Zelda lookalike, is coming to Steam this March.
When it debuted on iOS, Oceanhorn got some pretty good reviews, and now it's following the beaten path of being ported to PC, with some significant additions in order to make the game fit better on beefier hardware.
Many mobile gamers loved it but complained that it was very difficult to play with touch controls, so now they'll get the chance to properly enjoy it.
The game has been given a significant graphical facelift and its control scheme has been adjusted in order to make it feel at home on the PC, and not just like a hasty port.
The graphics now feature four times the polygon count, sharper textures, detailed objects and new lighting effects, including dynamic ambient occlusion, soft shadows and real-time reflections.
Numerous technical improvements have been made to the iOS version in order to make sure that the game is suitable for bigger screens and that it would offer new players a pleasant experience.
A neat tribute to a classic franchise
If, after watching the launch trailer below, you come to the conclusion that Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Sea bears an uncanny resemblance to The Legend of Zelda: Wind Walker, then you would be absolutely right.
Developer Cornfox and Bros. was heavily influenced by The Legend of Zelda games in general, and you can tell right away. The game has bright colors, takes place in an isometric world and has a certain chunky overall aesthetic. You also play the role of a brave boy, setting sail in search of adventure, trying to bring justice to the land, so it's pretty much a triforce short of being a fan remake.
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas is coming to Steam on March 17, available on Windows-equipped PCs.
