US President Barack Obama expected to unveil historic climate change action plan this coming Monday

Towards the beginning of this year's May, the United States Global Change Research Program released a new report saying that climate change was already affecting each and every region in the country and that things would only get worse in the years to come.

Provided that the report in question was intended to spook President Obama into taking action to limit climate change and global warming, it appears that congratulations and a wholehearted hip hip hooray are in order for the folks behind the Global Change Research Program.

Thus, media reports tell us that, this coming Monday, United States President Barack Obama is expected to introduce us, ordinary folks, to a brand-new climate change plan which some say might just be the most aggressive one the world has ever seen. The Guardian reports that, according to information shared with the press by those lucky few that have had the chance to take a peek at Obama's climate change plan, the United States President has his mind set in going after polluting power plants.

Specifically, word has it that the 1,500 power plants that are now operating in the States and that are to blame for as much as 40% of the country's annual emissions will be required to cut their carbon pollution by as much as 25%.

Present Obama is well aware of the fact that this new series of requirements might have a negative impact on electricity companies, seeing how quite a lot of coal plants will be forced to shut down. Hence, expanding wind and solar energy was offered as a solution.

Besides, it is said that President Barack Obama plans to fight climate change and global warming by offering economic incentives for reductions in emissions by means of cap and trade programs, the same source tells us.

Interestingly enough, it looks like ordinary folks will not go unaffected by this new climate change plan. On the contrary, electricity companies are expected to be asked to promote efficient heating and cooling system among their customers, even get them to use more efficient appliances and lightbulbs.

“I intend to make sure America is out front in a global framework to preserve our planet. American influence is always stronger when we lead by example,” President Obama commented on this plans to green up the United States in a recent interview. “We can not exempt ourselves from the rules that apply to everyone else,” he further stressed.

You can be sure that, the moment the plan is released, you will learn about it here, so stay tuned for more information.
