Apple reportedly hiring and training staff for Mac OS support

Apple has started customer support training for OS X Mountain Lion in Europe, Middle East and Africa, a source close to the company has said, adding that the company may release the final version of the operating system at WWDC 2012.

An unnamed source familiar with Apple’s ongoing developments surrounding Mac OS is telling AppleInsider that the Cupertino computer company has started recruiting and training staff on aspects pertaining to the latest version of OS X.

Dubbed Mountain Lion, OS X version 10.8 is the forthcoming major release of Apple’s desktop operating system. Earlier this year, Apple seeded developers with the first preview of the software confirming plans to have the final version shipped at the end of summer.

Apple developers are currently in the testing phase of another two previews seeded since. The Mac maker may have well put the finishing touches on its latest cat, the source suggests.

The company run by Tim Cook is known to hire and / or train support staff on shallow aspects of a certain product only weeks before the debut in order to avoid leaks.

Despite Apple promising to release Mountain Lion publicly at the end of Summer 2012, the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference held June 11-15 may see the final version of the software unveiled.

Then again, OS X Mountain Lion is not exactly a top secret project. The whole world knows about it, unlike more elusive products holding Apple’s business pillars, such as the next iPhone. Therefore Apple doesn’t need such stringent rules regarding word of mouth.

Plus, Cupertino generally seeds a Golden Master (GM) build weeks before such a release. The report may seem sketchy because of this, but it’s certainly worth considering.

“Although AppleInsider cannot validate the claims, the source has proved accurate in previous reports,” reads the report.

In a press release issued by Apple last month announcing the WWDC 12 schedule, Philip Schiller, the company’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said  “We have a great WWDC planned this year and can’t wait to share the latest news about iOS and OS X Mountain Lion with developers. The iOS platform has created an entirely new industry with fantastic opportunities for developers across the country and around the world.”
