Taiwanese manufacturer OKWAP has announced the S868, a handheld running Windows Mobile 5.0 for Pocket PC OS.

According to the manufacturer, the S868 is easy to use and convenient, being a good starting handset for customers who are not really familiar with PDA phones.

The handheld is powered by an Intel PXA 270 processor running at 416MHz and comes equipped with 128 MB ROM, 64MB RAM, a 2.4 inch TFT screen and a 2 megapixel camera with autofocus.

It supports Push E-Mail and comes with the usual Office mobile software that will allow the users who want to work while out of the office to view and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

OKWAP S868's most interesting feature is the iPod click wheel-like navigation system, which is a little bit different compared to what PDA phone users are used to.

The keys around the 5 key are not only for dialing the numbers. They are part of the touch-sensitive system, as in the case of the iPod's click wheel and can be used for navigation while the 5 key can be used for confirming.

Other features include IrDa and Bluetooth for connectivity with A2DP profile that allows users to listen to music wirelessly, a SD/MMC card slot for memory expansion with support for SDIO and OCR/BCR QR 2D Barcode and handwriting recognition.

The handheld measures 107 x 52 x 17.8 mm and weighs 122 grams. It looks like it is now available in Taiwan in exchange for a price of approximately 15000 Taiwan dollars.
