OCZ has been releasing storage units one after another over the past year, such as the Z-Drive m84 PCI-Express SSD and the 3.1-inch Colossus solid state drive with 1TB storage and the Agility EX SSD series, to name a few. The company does not seem ready to slow down just yet, with its roadmap suggesting that members for both the Vertex and Z-Drive series are already well on their way.

DailyTech reports that OCZ plans on expanding its storage-solution lineup with new units based on the 32nm NAND flash memory instead of the 34nm. This transition will enable the creation of more capacious storage units for both the Vertex and Agility series. Among the models mentioned are the next-generation Vertex 2 devices and the Z-Drive e88. These products will have both a higher storage capacity and better data-transfer speeds.

The report suggests that the Z-Drive will boast read speeds of up to 1400MB/s and write speeds of 1500MB/s. Unfortunately, it will mainly be targeted at the enterprise market, but even in desktop scenarios it will still pull off 1300MB/s when reading and 1200MB/s when writing. The Z-Drive storage units are capable of such ultra-high data transfers thanks to their use of the PCI-E bus. The device will have capacities of 512GB and 1TB.

Another line that the company intends to launch is the aforementioned Vertex 2 family. These drives will target the performance market while the Vertex Pro EX will be intended for enterprise use. What the new units will have in common is they integration of the SF-1500 SandForce controller. In addition, they will be built with the single-layer NAND, which will enable even higher speeds, namely of 270MB/s when reading and 260MB/s when writing. This data transfer closely approaches the theoretical limit of the SATA II interface. In addition to these capabilities, the Vertex Pro EX will also boast a supercapacitor, which will ensure the success of data writes even in case of burnouts or complete power failures. The models will feature 50GB, 100GB, 200GB, and 400GB capacities.

Unfortunately, there is no information on the products' prices.
