Random write performance is significantly boosted, up to more than double

If anyone was skeptical about the benefits of firmware updates, OCZ will probably shatter any unfortunate preconceptions with the new enhanced IOPS firmware (v1.13) for the Octane SATA 3.0 Series SSDs.

Long story short, the update, after applied to all octane SATA 6.0 Gbps solid state drives, improves the IOPS performance by a significant margin.

In fact, the 128 GB drive goes from 7,700 4K random write IOPS to 18,000, the 256 GB unit jumps from 12,000 to 25,000 and, finally, the 512 GB drive rises from 16,000 to 26,000.

As you can see, greater transactional performance is a sure thing, especially during small file and random access.

Of course, if anyone wants to rejoice at the new performance heights, they need to actually install the firmware first.

Go here to download it and make sure to read the requirements first.
