Solid state drives are still not as appealing as hard drives, at least in some sectors, and their storage capacities just barely begin to compare. Still, like all technologies, SSDs are developing and certain companies, such as OCZ, are focusing on continuously improving and innovating in the area of solid state storage. Already, SSDs come in more shapes than just IDE or SATA-attached drives. In order to further propel the technology, OCZ is preparing a full enterprise SSD lineup for demonstration during CeBIT 2010.

The company will be demonstrating the benefits that its SSD solutions can bring to the enterprise segment, with their higher speeds and compact form factor, compared with HDDs. Among the products that will be showcased are devices from the Agility 2, Vertex 2 and vertex LE series, which try to merge both productivity and low power consumption.

In addition, the company will also display the results of its ongoing efforts towards answering the need for even faster and larger drives. As such, OCZ will demonstrate, among other things, the fourth-generation design of the Z-Drive series aimed at server arrays and small business applications.

Of course, the storage solution developer will not overlook what it names “the enthusiast community,” having already prepared the Enyo USB 3.0 portable SSDs. With speeds up to ten times greater than those of the USB 2.0, the next-generation interface will allow new data rates that satisfy the strong demand for high-speed storage.

“There are an increasing number of applications where SSDs are quickly replacing traditional hard drives, including mobile and high-performance computing as well as numerous enterprise environments,” Alex Mei, CMO at the OCZ Technology Group, commented. “At CeBIT 2010, OCZ continues to expand our robust SSD lineup with the introduction of next-generation solid state storage solutions in an increasingly wide array of interfaces that truly deliver transformational capabilities when addressing the unique challenges of enterprise clients.”
