OCZ announced the second edition of its Gold PC2 6400 memory, the OCZ PC2-6400 Gold GX XTC Rev2. It's in fact a re-launch of the quite successful PC2-6400 Gold. A 2GB kit costs $249.99 or less. In some places they might offer a $30 rebate off the price, so you could end up buying this super fancy memory for as little as $209 to $219, according to The Inquirer.

OCZ now offers 4-5-5-15 timings, which is a little bit faster than the revision one. Gamers can always benefit from memory speed no matter whether you use Intel or AMD and games like Battlefield 2 the upcoming Battlefield 2141, Crysis, Vista gaming urges you to buy more than 1GB. Half Life episode one under Vista needs some 1.35GB to run smoothly. "We tried that over the weekend so maybe it's time to go for 2GB memory", said the same source.

According to the manufacturer, the new OCZ PC2-6400 Gold GX Edition Rev 2 utilizes the latest OCZ heatspreader design. XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) Heatspreaders allow increased ventilation and heat dissipation due to an innovative honeycomb design providing more direct access to the actual memory ICs. Each OCZ Gold series module is backed by the industry leading OCZ Lifetime Warranty and technical support, said the firm.

The specs: 800 Mhz DDR 2; CL 4-5-5-15 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS); XTC Heatspreader; 1.95 - 2.1 Volts; 240 Pin DIMM.
