Just when you thought that your 4GB of desktop system memory was just the thing to knock the socks off any computer enthusiast out there, OCZ intros its latest P45 Special 8GB and 16GB memory kits. That's enough to make any 32-bit operating system user want to upgrade to a 64-bit OS. In fact, that's just what any high-end gaming user might need, should they want to settle for nothing less than the latest in high-end computing performance.

OCZ's announcement comes at a time when computer users and system builders are just getting used to 4GB of RAM memory. However, if you aren't among the users of Intel's latest P45 chipset, then OCZ's new offer isn't meant for you. As some of you might be aware, Intel launched its P45 and G45 chipset at the beginning of June. The P45 can support up to 16GB of DDR2 memory or 8GB of DDR3.

OCZ's 8GB and 16GB solutions are ideal for workstations powered by 64-bit operating systems, enabling users to take full advantage of high-performance configurations. The modules fit the requirements of most graphic designers, CAD engineers, and music and video editing professionals, all of whom will get to enjoy the benefits of the increased memory resources. They are also ideal for Vista users, who will get to test out the real Vista experience, as well as that of any of the latest Direct X 10 games.

"64-bit operating systems are becoming more mainstream and finally enable user memory to shed the 2GB limitation of 32-bit OS," commented Dr. Michael Schuette, VP of Technology Development at OCZ Technology. "Moreover, the latest multi-core systems are capable of simultaneous execution of highly complex workloads, each commanding its own virtual memory space. In that scenario, the only way of avoiding data collision without writing back to the hard disk is the migration towards super-high memory densities."

There are four new memory modules waiting, including the 16GB model. All of these kits have been featured with the company's high quality XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreaders for the most effective heat dissipation. No details on pricing and availability are available at the moment, but if you want to find out more about the company's recent products, the best thing would be for you to check out the official website.
