Not too long has passed since OCZ introduced its new Octane SSD and the company has already released a new firmware update for this drive.

According to the release notes accompanying it, this brings a series of important changes that focus on improving the SSD’s compatibility as well as its sustained performance.

As usual, the update to FW v1412 is done via the OCZ Toolbox which has now reached version 3.01.11 and is available for download from Softpedia by following this link.

Before proceeding with the firmware update make sure to back-up the data on the drive. Furthermore, updating the firmware from the toolbox is not supported when Windows is running off the SSD you are trying to update.

For those of you in need of a quick reminder, the Octane SSD is powered by the SATA 6Gbps Indilinx Everest controller and can deliver sequential read and write speeds of 560MB/s and 400MB/s, respectively.
