The XDA Zinc was supposed to make its debut in shops in January 2007, and O2 Asia had already put up a presentation section for this mobile phone on their website, which was a sure sign that it wouldn't be long until this handheld was released. But if you were waiting to get yourself one of the 3G PDA phones during this month, unfortunately you won't be able to do that, because for one reason or the other, its release date was pushed back to March 2007.

The pocket PC phone comes equipped with quite a lot of goodies, including a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for more convenient messaging and document editing, a 2.8 inch 65k color display with a QVGA resolution, 520MHz PXA 270 processor, 64MB RAM and 128 MB ROM.

You'll be able to take snapshots with the 2 megapixel camera with autofocus the handheld comes with and if the internal memory is not enough, you'll also be able to expand it, due to the MiniSD memory card slot.

The tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz XDA Zinc also features WiFI, Bluetooth, Irda and miniUSB for connectivity. The handheld measures 109 x 58 x 23 mm, weighs 165 grams and runs on Windows Mobile 5.0, which means that it comes with all the usual software such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Windows Media Player.

Since on the UK carrier's web site, the January 2007 release has been switched for a March 2007 release, so expect the O2 XDA Zinc to show up in stores around this spring. There is still no information regarding the price of this handheld so far, but this will be provided as well closer to the release date.
