The company feels there’s nothing it needs to do to prove that Tegra 3 is the real king

Nvidia has apparently issued a swift response to Amazon’s CEO, Mr. Jeff Bezos that is claiming that the new OMAP 4470 processor inside the new Kindle Fire tablet is actually faster than Nvidia’s own Tegra 3 SoC.

We reported here on Amazon’s performance claims and we also detailed the particular architectural differences between the two processors that might lead Mr. Jeff Bezos to make such bold statements.

Nvidia’s Senior Product PR Manager for EMEAI has reportedly just issued a response to Mr. Jeff Bezos and commented as follows:

“It’s good to see companies continuing to use Tegra 3 as the standard they compare their products to.

The immensely popular Nexus 7 has shown the capabilities of the Tegra 3 processor.

You can’t measure the consumer’s overall experience with synthetic benchmarks.

A better way to measure is with real world apps and use cases. Tegra 3 has shown time and again that it delivers a great experience for consumers, whether they’re gaming, streaming video or using other apps.”

Indeed Nvidia feels pretty much safe in the tablet sector as the company’s Tegra 3 SoC power many tablets from different manufacturers, but most importantly it powers the Google Nexus 7 and Microsoft’s Surface.

This puts Nvidia in a very good position where the Tegra 3 SoC is present in practically most of the high-end tablet on the market and especially in the tablets that are prone to high sales and huge popularity.

Four tablets have enough distinct popularity that will help them achieve high sales: Google’s Nexus 7, Apple’s iPad, Microsoft’s Surface and Amazon’s Kindle.

Basically, Tegra 3 is present in two of these so Nvidia is not concerned enough to start a benchmark war with Amazon or Texas Instruments.
