The G92 series from Nvidia seems to be getting another member pretty soon, as the 9800 GT, a renamed 8800 GT, is rumored to arrive on July 29. The 9800GT represents the third rebranding/renaming of the same chip, which means that we'll be looking at that same G92 made under the 65nm manufacturing process.

The new graphics card will have the same features as the old one, except for the Hybrid power support it brings along. Still, this is not a new characteristic for Nvidia's cards. The 9800GT has been rumored to be delayed or even canceled by the Santa Clara graphics chips manufacturer, as the product spacing of the company seemed to get crowded earlier this year.

Still, according to the latest news, the 65 nanometers GeForce 9800GT graphics card should be launched on July 29, which is only a week far from now. It seems that Nvidia also has plans for a 55nm version of the card, which has been announced for future release, but no precise launch date has been unveiled so far.

The price of the new card has not been revealed either, but it is expected to be set somewhere in the $190 - $240 price range. Although the 8800GT proved to be a great card when it was launched, Nvidia's renaming/rebranding game overcrowded the market and consumers might become a little annoyed by it. GeForce 8800GT represented the beginning, later on being renamed to GeForce 9800 GTX. Now, the same 96 Shader based G92 is once again rebranded to GeForce 9800GT.

The company still has to get rid of a lot of its 65nm chips, and probably this is why it still goes with this process technology for 9800GT at the start. While AMD is aiming high on the 55nm fabrication process, Nvidia should speed up the transition for its cards as well.
