The studio wants to eliminate all of Skyrim's issues even if many patches are needed

Bethesda’s game director, Todd Howard, has talked about the patching process for the studio’s most recent title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, highlighting that the game has already received more patches than previous titles like Fallout 3 or Oblivion.

Skyrim was one of last year’s biggest games and, even if it amazed millions of players, it was affected by quite a few problems.

Bethesda has released plenty of major patches and updates for the massive role playing game since then and, while some brought with them new problems, most solved plenty of crucial glitches.

Now, Bethesda game director Todd Howard has talked with Game Informer about the patching process and the serious lag issues that affected Skyrim on the PlayStation 3 console.

Howard first explains that, while only a small percentage of players end up being affected by glitches, it’s still more than Bethesda would like.

"The percentage of people that have a problem on any particular system ends up a low percentage, but the raw number ends up being larger than we would have expected. It's hopefully a much smaller number now [post the 1.4 update]. When you put all this time into something and someone can't play it, you feel terrible. They have every right to be pissed off."

"We already have more updates out for this than Fallout 3 and Oblivion in their lifetime. So we're really committed to fixing everything," Howard added.

The latest major update for Skyrim was patch 1.4, which fixed quite a lot of issues across the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms.

Bethesda has just released a beta version of the next update on the PC, so you can expect patch 1.5 to arrive in the following weeks across all platforms.

Until then, let’s hope that no other major issues start affecting Skyrim on any of its platforms.
