14 DAY TRIAL // Nuance Communications, the company that gave Apple’s Siri the power to understand what you're telling her, has released a new version of its PDF Converter for Mac. The new PDF Converter 3.0 features ties to cloud services such as PaperPort Anywhere and Evernote. A FormTyper converts paper files into e-format.
“Nuance PDF Converter for Mac, version 3 features industry-standard PDF viewing, editing, and security. PDF Converter for Mac also features accurate PDF conversion to editable formats using OmniPage, the world’s best-selling OCR technology,” says Nuance.
According to the developers, users no longer have to perform an account setup, and email delivery is no longer required when converting PDF files into fully formatted documents such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, RTF and Corel WordPerfect.
“PaperPort Anywhere delivers anytime, anywhere access to your most important folders, files, documents, and photos [and] the FormTyper feature accurately and automatically converts PDF and scanned paper forms into professional-looking electronic forms you can fill out, save, and share,” according to the release notes.
By safeguarding all information with 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption and 256-bit AES Unicode passwords, Nuance PDF Converter ensures compliance with government and HIPPA regulations regarding document security.
“Deliver professional, easy-to-navigate PDF documents with new tools that allow you to create and edit a Table of Contents by adding chapter and subchapter titles [and] take advantage of additional Bates Numbering options for formatting with user-specified prefix, digit count and starting number, also includes support for letters and Roman numerals,” reads the change log.
Additionally, the app’s page numbering capabilities have been enhanced to allow you to position page numbers in a header or footer. Users also get page numbering options for facing pages.
Nuance PDF Converter requires a Mac computer with an Intel processor, approximately 100 MB of available disk space, Mac OS X v10.6 (Snow Leopard) or v10.7 (Lion), a CD/DVD drive to install from disk, and Internet access for some particular features (such as the aforementioned cloud integration).
