Nuance will buy Tegic Communications in order to expand the role that they play in the mobile industry. They also seek to develop the most efficient strategy in order to provide solutions for all the user's mobile needs. Companies such as Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG and Motorola will also stand as partners for the two companies.

As a result of a partnership between Nuance and Tegic Communication, the users benefit from a large portfolio of voice-enabled applications for device control, mobile search as well as email and text messaging. Tegic Communications is the developer of industry-leading T9 predictive text input software, which automatically comes installed on 2.5 billion mobile phones.

"Tegic shares our vision of delivering an integrated, superior and flexible user experience for today's wireless subscribers. Together, we are poised to redefine the way people interact with their mobile devices, delivering a more convenient, simple way for consumers to control features and access information on their phones, and search and navigate the mobile Web", said Paul Ricci, chairman and CEO, at Nuance.

The partnership between the two companies is meant to provide competitive solutions in order to live up to the current performances of mobile phone technology. "The enhanced capabilities of mobile devices and networks have fueled significant innovation in features and services, but their potential has been tempered by the traditional interface on most mobile devices", further commented Paul Ricci.

As a result of the partnership, Nuance plans on bringing an all-in-one interface that combines Nuance and Tegic solutions to support predictive text, speech and touch input. This new interface will be available to all manufacturers across their product lines.

The partnership is expected to return high profit rates to both companies. The transaction will be made in exchange for the sum of USD 265 million.
