The popularity of blogs is going stronger everyday, so a giant in Internet such as AOL could not ignore this phenomenon and the company decided to announce the public availability of AOL Journals.

AOL Journals is a very easy to use blogging tool, so you may have your public or private journal in a matter of minutes.

"The blogging phenomenon grows stronger each day and has especially taken hold among our community of members," said Bill Schreiner, Vice President of Community for America Online. "AOL Journals is one of our most popular community-building tools and has created an active forum where users can share their thoughts and opinions and participate in online discourse. By extending AOL Journals to the AIM service, now more Internet users can easily enter the blogosphere."

The key features of AOL Journals include a quick and simple set up, the users cand send updates via instant messaging, web spam fighting tools, photo uploads, RSS support, feedback form readers and maybe, the most important, a rich text editor.

AOL Journals were first launched on the AOL service in 2003 and was available only for paying customers. Since then this feature has quickly became a popular and dynamic community. Since today, to register, Internet users can go to www.AIM.com and download the free AIM service.

A few days ago AOL also announced that the company is working on a new version of AIM, the IM client of AOL, code-named Triton, , with a lot of revolutionary features.

Two years ago, Google was the first major search engine to launch a free blogging service, in association with Pyra Software. MAS has also a blog service, entitled MySpaces and Yahoo has announced that Yahoo 360 it will be aviolable in the next few months
