The future of control surfaces - the control surface of the future

The Remote SL is the latest piece of gear coming from Novation and it is a truly amazing control surface. Now, do not frown in disbelief: we all have heard so many times that something is really amazing and in fact it was just another piece of crap, it's true. [admark=1]

The Novation Remote SL is definitely different because besides its multi-functional array of controls it does something other similar control surfaces do not even dare of doing: sparing you the time and fuss to map your buttons, faders, knobs and the rest.

Well, now that you've finally become attentive, here's the deal: the Novation Remote SL is running on a very special piece of software called Automap which does all the job for you. Namely, it detects the DAW you're working with and "where" you are in the current session and then maps the controls in the Novation Remote SL to the functions present on screen. Neat, isn't it?

In the first place we all thought that this is rather a cheap trick but actually seeing the Novation Remote SL work with Logic and Reason has finally convinced us. It works! No matter whether working in mixer mode or recorder/plugin-mode, the Remote SL sports one of the easiest yet complex arrays of controls you have ever dreamt of existing.

It sports multiple rows of commands selectable by buttons, full transport controls and even velocity-sensitive pads for easy and convenient drumming or lifelike bass/guitar design. Even more, the Novation Remote SL comes in 4 "flavors", such as 2, 3, 5 octaves and even in the ZeRo module, with no keyboards and knobs and faders and all the like. Brightly lit LCD screen tells you what you are tweaking in every moment so there is no chance to make dumb mistakes.
