One of the most popular launcher apps for Android devices, Nova has just received a major update that brings lots of new features and improvements.

Apart from the usual under-the-hood enhancements, developers also implemented lots of visual changes based on the Material Design.

Nova Launcher replaces the home screen with one that users can control and customize the way they see fit. The application has more than 10 million downloads on Google Play Store and overwhelmingly positive reviews (4.6 out of 5.0).

The latest update brings full Material Design visuals, which means all settings screens/dialogs have been redesigned, more animations and new icons have been added. Moreover, the update brings bundled wallpapers and the Edit Shortcut dialog is tinted based on colors of the icon.

Some other changes added in the update and mentioned in the official changelog include individual icon layout settings (size, font, etc) in Desktop, Drawer, etc., as well as max icon size that has been boosted to 150%.

A new option called Widget Search has been implemented too, along with the ability to pull down in the drawer for search, and as new grouped Widgets drawer.

Android for Work added for Android 4.1+ devices

Last but not least, the latest update for Nova Launcher brings support for Android for Work (Lollipop), but this new feature requires Android 4.1 and up.

If you don't have the application installed yet, you can now download Nova Launcher for Android 4.0 for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.

Keep in mind that a paid version of the application is available in Google Play Store as well. Nova Launcher Prime for Android 4.0 can be purchased for $5, and it should support all smartphones and tablets running Android 4.0 and higher.
