It seems that the apparently instant success that the Vega slate enjoyed is something that makers of other tablets seek to emulate, and Notion Ink might just be one of the first to pull it off.

Most new tablets are expected to make their appearance at the 2011 International CES (Consumer Electronics Show), an expo set to take place in January.

Still, some slates have already been previewed, and a few have even been selling, like the Advent Vega, which was sold out in less than a few hours on two occasions before it finally managed to stay as available for order longer.

Now, Notion Ink is reported by Slashgear to be quite close to launching their own device, the Adam.

For those seeking an exact date, which is probably everyone, the release should happen tomorrow, December 9, 2010.

In terms of specifications, Adam is a 10.1-inch slate with a WSVGA LCD panel whose native resolution is 1,024 x 600 pixels.

It is based on the NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip), which includes a dual-core Cortex A9 ARM-based microprocessor.

Said SoC is backed up by 1 GB of memory, 8+ GB of Flash storage and a microSD card which allows for even more storage space to be added.

Additionally, Adam includes a 3.2 megapixel auto focus swivel camera, a pair of USB 2.0 ports, a mini USB, stereo loudspeakers and the full list of connectivity options.

Said list includes 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 3G HSPA WWAN.

Notion Ink has also been working on the Eden UI and multitasking system, which is a rework of the Android OS for larger systems.

Until tomorrow, end-users can drop by the company's website for a full rundown of the specs. Initially, only those that registered and commended on the company's blog will be able to place pre-orders.

Regardless, customers will be able to choose between six variants, with or without 3G or a Pixel Qi display instead of an LCD, all priced between $399 and $498.
