A company engineering revolutionary ways in which bioplastics are used has announced a range of iPod touch 4G cases made from plant material, “providing an environmentally friendly option for Apple device owners who want complete protection without sacrificing natural resources, functionality or style.”

Since the bioserie cases are made from a unique blend of bioplastics which are all derived from plants and annually renewable resources, the manufacturing process ends with far less emission of greenhouse gases, the makers said.

While not certified as “Made for iPod” by Apple (not that protective cases do require such certification), the release of these iPod touch-compatible cases marks the expansion of bioserie’s existing line of “made of plants” covers, the company said.

This includes cases for the iPhone 4, iPhone 3G/3GS, iPod touch 2G/3G and iPod nano.

bioserie claims to be constantly raising the bar, in a market dominated by plastic products that use petrochemicals derived from oil, by expanding its line of cutting edge biobased Apple accessories.

The main features of the bioserie iPod touch 4G cover include:

· Lightweight biobased bioplastic body - only 10 grams · Patent-pending screen protection feet allowing safe facedown placement · Easy accessibility to iPod touch 4G controls when cover is on · Finely textured surface providing comfort and better ergonomics · Colors: black, white, sky blue and pink

To achieve these results, bioserie uses Ingeo by NatureWorks, LLC and a proprietary blend of biobased components.

The resulted product is “a slim, lightweight iPod touch 4G case that provides significant protection, comfortable grip and complete functionality available in a fashionable array of colors,” bioserie said.

“We are excited to offer protection solutions that are truly environmentally-friendly that help consumers enjoy their technology without the harmful effects of petrochemicals,” said Kaya Kaplancali, bioserie CEO.

“bioserie will continue to develop innovative, stylish and functional products through the use of green science and earth-conscious manufacturing processes, transforming the way people use their Apple technology in an ecologically friendly way,” Kaplancali added.

bioserie ships its cases worldwide for $34.95. The price also covers transportation.
