Since Apple TV was officially released, the Cupertino-based company recorded considerable sales. But some of the users who are not already the owners of the device also want to use the product or at least to test it. Well, they now have this chance because Paul Yanez recently created Not Apple TV, an interesting Flash project that allows you to view Apple's device from the window of your browser. Basically, it provides almost the same functionality as the Apple product even if it is accessible through the Internet.

"A Flash mashup that has the same functionality as the AppleTV device that utilizes RSS feeds from the top web sharing sites such as YouTube, Google, MySpace, Digg, BlipTV, MetaCafe, IFilm, Pornotube, DailyMotion, Break, Grouper, Heavy and Guba. Users have the ability to navigate the application via keyboard or remote control. All graphics have been created in vector thereby porting to mobile devices, Nintendo Wii, Sony Playstation3 will be seamless. The user has the ability to change the UI in terms of color, layout, control type, viewing and hiding information thru a control panel," the creator of the Not Apple TV describes it.

The interesting fact is that it works like a real media player because it automatically plays the videos in the playlist. The only difference is that it takes the content from the online video sharing services such as YouTube, PornoTube, Metacafe or others.

Obviously, the product can be accessed for free but the loading times depend on the quality of your Internet connection. Because it is a Flash based service, you have to install this browser add-on in order to use the product without errors. Personally, I tested the product in Safari, Opera and Firefox, all on Mac OS X and it works quite fine without any interruption.
