On Wednesday, Symantec released a new version of the Norton Mobile Security for Android.

The latest release of the mobile security solution contains the company’s new Mobile Insight, a technology that analyzes Android applications in an effort to discover malicious apps, privacy risks, and intrusive behavior.

Interestingly, the Mobile Insight technology has found that even the Facebook application for Android has some privacy issues.

Mobile Insight has discovered that the Facebook app for Android sends the device’s phone number to Facebook's severs even before the user logs into his/her account.

“You do not need to provide your phone number, log in, initiate a specific action, or even need a Facebook account for this to happen,” Symantec noted.

Facebook says it will address the issue in an upcoming release. In the meantime, the social media company says it has deleted the information from its servers.
