Korean handset manufacturer Samsung and security software provider Symantec have just announced they have teamed up to offer Galaxy smartphone users the ultimate security solution for Android devices, Norton Mobile Security.

It appears that Samsung is willing to offer a full-featured, complimentary 90-day subscription of Norton Mobile Security in multiple languages to Samsung Galaxy users via Samsung Apps.

However, Galaxy smartphones users will have to purchase the application after the free 90-day subscription expires. In this regard, it is worth mentioning that the one-year license for Norton Mobile Security costs 29.99 US dollars (23 Euro).

With Symantec’s Norton Mobile Security users will be able to protect their personal data from loss, viruses, theft or other threats.

This is a complete security solution, which provides users with the option to check the location of their smartphone, so it will make it easier to find it in case it’s stolen or lost. This is possible using the Remote Locate features.

There’s another interesting feature included, which allows users to lock their stolen or lost devices via the Internet or SMS. With Remote Lock users can keep their sensitive data safe and block unauthorized access.

Remote Wipe allows users to remotely erase the data on their smartphones by simply sending an SMS. This will certainly block access to any private information stored on the device.

The application scans all files and app updates downloaded to the phone and can automatically detect and remove any threats that might appear.

According to Samsung, all Galaxy family devices are compatible with Norton Mobile Security app, including Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Neo, Galaxy S Hoppin and Galaxy A.

We are pleased to extend our valued relationship with Samsung by helping to protect more of its customers’ devices and data from theft, loss and mobile threats. With smartphone sales now outpacing PC sales, cybercriminals are devising new threats every day to steal from mobile users. Consumers need to be protected more than ever,” said Janice Chaffin, group president, Consumer Business Unit, Symantec.
