The Finnish producer has presented a handheld tablet designed for online browsing through wireless broadband networks. This is the first attempt that doesn't have anything to do with a cell phone and the latest attempt to create a device dedicated to Internet fast accessing.

This Internet Tablet presented yesterday by Nokia will be available starting from this year with an approximate price of $350. The device is a cheaper, faster and less complicated solution than any laptop on the market.

The device is based on Linux, Nokia choosing this system over Symbian, the classic operating system for smart phones. Internet Tablet doesn't have a hard drive, only a 128MB flash memory module; the memory can be extended by connecting a memory card.

According to the producers' statements, Internet Tablet doesn't rival with current Mp3 players. An update of the software solution which will activate Voice Over IP or instant messaging accessing is expected this year.

Although the device's main advantage is mobility, the 4.1 inch display offers a viewing experience superior to any cell phone or PDA on the market.
