The Finnish company may lend its hardware/software expertise

Nokia recently launched its first Android tablet, the N1, in China, but it seems that the Finnish company has a few other surprises in store for its fans.

Since Nokia is forbidden from entering the smartphone market until Q4 2016, the company confirmed that it is looking for other opportunities like licensing its brand or expertise in the software and hardware field to other handset makers that would like to benefit from these advantages.

Rumor has it that Nokia and Meizu may have teamed up for the release of the international version of MX4, NokiaPowerUser reports. Given that neither company confirmed these allegations, we recommend our readers to take this rumor with a grain of salt.

But how exactly will Nokia help Meizu launch the MX4 internationally? It looks like a Weibo account that goes by the name of “Ubuntu Team” has just published an image that might suggest that a new Meizu Supreme smartphone will be launched soon.

The Meizu Supreme will be “powered by Nokia,” but the implication of the Finnish company into the project is unknown for now.

We can only assume that Nokia will probable lend its hardware and software expertise to Meizu, which will help the Chinese handset maker enter the European market easier.

A licensing of the Nokia brand on Meizu products is less likely

We don't think Meizu will license the Nokia brand for any of its smartphones, as the Chinese brand is well known worldwide as well.

However, a collaboration between the two companies will benefit both Nokia and Meizu, as well as customers. The image published on the Weibo account lists a few more phone names that are supposedly powered by Nokia hardware or software: MX4 plus, MX Pro mini plus, Lumia 1030, MX4 international.

The mention of the Lumia 1030 doesn't make any sense, since the Lumia brand is owned by Microsoft and Nokia has ended the partnership with the Redmond-based company.

We'll probably find out more about this rumored collaboration between Meizu and Nokia, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
