A music dedicated 3G smartphone

The Nokia 5700 Xpress Music is meant to be an accessible 3G mobile phone packed with features for the music enthusiastic users. It comes with the twist design, first seen on the 3250, that that allows its owner to easily switch between four modes, the music player, camera, video call and smartphone.

The handset has a strong focus on music, supports all the usual audio file formats (MP3, WMA, AAC, eAAC+, MP4) , allows users to store their favorite tracks on MicroSD cards of up to 2GB and listen to them wirelessly through Bluetooth with A2DP profile or on their favorite 3.5 mm plug-equipped headphones. Moreover, Nokia 5700 Xpress Music can also display album art, features a 5-band equalizer and audio vizualizations.

Based on the world's leading OS for smartphones, Symbian S60, it will enable customers to personalize their device with a wide range of applications, games and other content. Other features include a 16-million color screen, 3G high-speed data connectivity and video calling and a 2 megapixel camera.

"The Nokia 5700 XpressMusic adds a new twist to the mobile music experience with compatibility for tracks purchased from many Internet music stores," says Heikki Norta, Senior Vice President, Mobile Phones, Nokia. "In addition the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic features a dedicated audio chip for improved music performance which consumers can further enhance by selecting from an ever increasing line of compatible audio enhancements."

According to its manufacturer, the 5700 Xpress Music will start shipping during the second quarter of the year with a price tag of around 350 Euro ($460) before taxes.
