From the team led by Tapani Jokinen and Jarkko Saunamaki, the same team that showcased the Nokia Kinetic Device prototype at Nokia World 2011, comes a new stunning concept phone called Nokia Twist.

The new concept phone shows the advantages of carrying a bendy phone that can interact with user's emotions.

Developed by HumanForm, which is a project by Nokia Design and Nokia Research Center, the Twist concept phone can be easily manipulated to fit user's hands.

Nokia Twist is based on nanotechnology and promises to provide users with the possibility to emotionally interact with the phone.

Better explained by the designers, Nokia Twist “features voice communication where technology is invisible and intuition takes over.”

The phone looks very much like a futuristic remote control, which can be bended or twisted. It is completely transparent and features gesture interaction, which means that the phone can interpret certain gestures to rearrange the menu on the screen.

Aside the fact that the whole case is touch sensitive, users can control the phone with several actions, like flex and twist to browse through menus and gallery, or bend to zoom in and out. You can even stretch to pan.

Something that is really amazing is the fact users can feel the image displayed on the touchscreen thanks to the “electro tactile” ability of the phone.

It can recognize your mood via its “emotionally enhanced communication” skills, but also allows non-verbal communication. Simply draw something on the screen and the phone will show it to the other caller.

Unfortunately, Nokia is not among the companies that bring some of its concept phones to life, on the contrary.

Let's hope that at least a few of the technologies embedded onto the Nokia Twist concept phone will become widely spread in the next several years.
