Today, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia has provided some more info on one of the products that it has been long rumored to plan on bringing to the market, namely Nokia Treasure Tag.

For those out of the loop, we should note that this is a very small accessory, measuring only 30 x 30 x 10mm (roughly the size of a match box) and weighing only 13 grams.

It was designed to allow users to easily attach it to their keys, bag, wallet, and the like, and then sync it with the Lumia smartphone. Whenever the user moves too far away from the Treasure Tag, they will be alerted on the matter.

“How many times have you left the house, only to realise you’ve left your wallet, or your phone, sitting on the kitchen table? All of us, from time-to-time. That’s all about to change with the Nokia Treasure Tag,” a post on Nokia Conversations reads.

The accessory can be paired with a Lumia smartphone via NFC, and there’s also a Nokia Treasure Tag companion app available for download. When pairing the smartphone with the small accessory for the first time, users will be prompted to grab the software as well.

“If the situation arises and you hear the tone from either the phone or the Nokia Treasure Tag, you’ll hopefully be within range to hear the tone of the other device – making it very easy to locate,” said blog post notes.

“Should you miss the alert for some reason, don’t worry. The clever app will help you to locate the lost item on a map, powered by HERE.”

Nokia also explains that users will be able to pair up to four different Nokia Treasure Tags to their handset at the same time, and that they can also assign ready-made icons or photos for each and every one of them.

Users will also be able to place Tags on the Start Screen in the form of Live Tiles, with different color options available for them, matching the color of the Treasure Tag itself.

Users will also be able to deactivate a Tag when they know they will be away from it for a longer time. Moreover, they will have the possibility to mute its alarm or put it into a sleep mode, all from within the Nokia Tag app.

Nokia Treasure Tag will arrive on shelves sometime in April, with a price tag of €24.90 ($29.90) attached to it, and will be available globally, Nokia has announced.

The accessory will be offered in cyan, yellow, white, and black, and will sport a standard coin battery type (CR-2032), which will provide up to six months of usage. It can be easily replaced, the company notes.

“Nokia Treasure Tag will work with Lumia phones that have the Lumia Black update. There will also be third-party applications for Treasure Tag to support Android and iOS devices,” the company also announced.
