Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia is reportedly gearing up for the release of a new software update for its high-end Nokia N8 smartphone that landed on shelves last year with the Symbian^3 operating system on board. Apparently, the new software would be aimed at enhancing the capabilities that Nokia N8's photo snapper came on shelves with, so that users would benefit from a better experience when shooting videos.

To be more precise, the update is reportedly set to bring continuous auto-focus into the mix, along with 30FPS video capturing capabilities.

The Nokia N8 was launched on shelves with a 12-megapixel photo snapper on the back, a great camera, but it seems that there is room for additional enhancements and that Nokia decided it was about time it added some new features into the mix.

With 30 FPS video recording, users would enjoy smoother clips recorded with the phone's camera, especially when it comes to fast movement.

As for the continuous auto-focus, it would offer the possibility to have both close up subjects and far away ones, as the focus point will continuously update.

According to a recent article on mynokiablog, the info comes from Damien Dinning, camera guru of Nokia, who confirmed that these features will be added in a future update.

At the moment, it is possible to enjoy continuous auto focus on Nokia N8 via a series of hacks, as well as through some applications that were already released in the Ovi Store, it seems.

However, the said software update will offer users the possibility to enjoy the feature on their devices without the need of installing additional software.

While no specific release date for the update was provided, Damien Dinning did mention that these enhancements would require Symbian Anna to be installed on the mobile phone, which means that the software will arrive only after the OS upgrade. Keep an eye on this space for more on the matter.
