Nokia officially starts delivering new software update for Lumia 920, 820 and 620

On Wednesday, Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia officially announced the availability of a new software update for its first Windows Phone 8 devices out there, namely the Lumia 920, Lumia 820, and Lumia 620.

The company confirmed that the software would become available for download on Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 as version 1232.5957.1308.00xx, and that Lumia 620 users would receive it as version 1030.6407.1308.00xx.

The update was announced for the first time back in March, but Nokia did not offer at that moment specific info on when it would start arriving on devices.

However, it seems that the rollout has officially begun, and that the owners of said devices will be able to find and download it, so as to take advantage of the enhancements it packs inside.

The list of improvements set to land on Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 includes:

- Improved automatic display brightness adjustment - Fix for intermittent screen blanking during a call - Further performance and stability improvements

Owners of a Nokia Lumia 620 will also receive a nice range of enhancements in the new software release for their devices, including better touch screen functions with corrections made to multi-touch actions, Nokia explains.

Other changes in the 1030.6407.1308.00xx update for Lumia 620 include:

- Better voice quality with Bluetooth headsets that support echo/noise suppression - Enhanced camera performance with corrected exposure when flash is used in bright light conditions - Various improvements to system stability, performance, and usability

As usual, the update will arrive on devices in phases, which means that not all users will see it as available for them right from the start. The rollout should be completed within weeks, it seems.

However, users will be notified on their devices as soon as the update arrives, and they will be able to download it then (they will have to be connected to a Wi-Fi network). Nokia also notes that the exact software version might vary in different markets.
