Today, AdDuplex has published its monthly report on Microsoft Windows Phone operating system, so as to provide us with the latest changes in sales and market share that took place in the month of January, 2013.

According to a recent post on the company’s blog, Nokia is currently accounting for no less than 92.3 percent of all Windows Phone devices out there, as it gained some 0.2 percent more market share in the past month.

However, it seems that HTC and Samsung have started to heavily discount their Windows Phone 8 devices, which made flagship handsets as cheap as mid-level Lumia phones, which slowed Nokia’s growth for a bit.

Even so, the most popular Windows Phone device out there remains the Nokia Lumia 520, which actually gained 0.2 percent share during the last month, to climb to a total of 31 percent share.

On the other hand, as reported yesterday, Nokia Lumia 625 grew the most when compared to December, now accounting for 4.9 percent of all Windows Phone devices out here.

“The most notable gain this month is from Lumia 625. It has grown by 0.4 percentage points by move 2 steps up, outgrowing both venerable Lumia 800 and Lumia 820,” AdDuplex said.

“While current flagships are still out of the top 10, an interesting thing to note is that we’ve seen more Lumia 1520s than 525s (a hopeful new lower-end leader).”

The aforementioned blog post also unveils that 14.7 percent of WP8 devices are currently running under the Windows Phone 8 GDR3 update, and that 18 percent of handsets are still featuring Windows Phone 8 GDR1.

The rest of 67.3 percent Windows Phone 8 handsets are running under GDR2, which is more than two thirds. However, the newer GRD3 update should gain more share during the next month or so, given that Nokia is currently rolling it worldwide to its Lumia users.

The report "is based on data collected from 2,899 Windows Phone apps running AdDuplex SDK v.2. The raw data analyzed was collected over the day of January 23rd, 2014 (UTC time)," the company noted.
