Reality. A Chinese one for the moment

Evolution is something we all aim for, right? Well, Nokia is a company that always evolved, so if we think logically, a Nokia N96 mobile phone should come somewhere in the near future, since the N95 model is released. But until now there has been no official information or announcement about this, all we have is rumors and fan-taken photos showing how N96 could look like. It may have a double-slided design, a clamshell one with a rotating screen or a classic one, close to N82. Or it could have no design at all, since no one is sure that Nokia is preparing a N96 handset.

And although the phone's existence comes with a big question mark, there are rumors saying that a prototype of Nokia N96 was already created. It's said to be only 8.5 mm thick and to have 8GB of internal memory, a 3 inch screen and a 7.1 Megapixel camera with 20x optical zoom! But this is kind of impossible, as the 20x optical zoom cannot be packed in such a slim device. Or maybe Nokia can do it, who knows...

Other rumors say that N96 will come with a double-sliding full QWERTY keypad, GPS, 10 GB of built-in memory and a 6 Megapixel camera with optical zoom. This looks more likely to be featured in a phone, don't you think?

Awaiting for the real and official Nokia N96, we must say that there actually is a mobile phone named Nokia N96, Nokia N96i more exactly. But it's not manufactured by Nokia and it doesn't have any connection with the Finnish company (except for the name). The phone is what you'd call a fake, it is made in China and costs about 200 - 300 US Dollars. It has some good features, like a 5.5 Megapixel camera, 2.4 inch display, Bluetooth, MP3 and MP4 support, but... well, as I said, it's a fake and you don't have any guarantee or support for it. So if you want a Nokia N96 you'd better wait for the real one. And hope you don't wait in vain.
