Nokia N900, the Maemo 5-based handset the Finnish mobile phone maker unveiled to the world about two months ago, seems set to make an appearance on the market before the end of the ongoing month, yet still quite close to it. The device is already available for pre-order on the company's website, and the availability listed there says it plain and clear: “End of October 2009.”

The high-end device might come to the shelves in the following two weeks, making a lot of enthusiasts out there finally happy. Up until now, no official release date has been given, and a more exact launch window is something many have been expecting. Some voices over the Internet suggest that October 26 might prove to be a lucky day, but, until it is made official, the launch window will have to do.

However, a recent post on slashgear says that the very end of October might actually be the time when N900 will come to the market. According to the piece, Amazon shows an availability date of November 2, a little later than October, meaning that those who have pre-ordered the device might have a few more days to wait until they'll get their units.

While Amazon has already set a day when it will start shipping the device, Amazon US is reportedly still not showing an official date for delivery. Even so, people can still pre-order Nokia's N900 Maemo device from the US retailer, paying $66 less than what Nokia is asking for it. A $649 MSRP is the official price tag N900 has at Nokia, and it has been lowered to $582.99 on Amazon US, while also coupled with free shipping.

Those who would like to “experience the speed and raw power of the high-performance N900 mobile computer,” should head either to Nokia's website or to Amazon to order it in advance, or they can just wait around until the phone makes it to the market. Two weeks won't be that long after all, but things might change, so stay tuned to learn the news.
