Nokia and one of Kuwait's major carrier VIVA have just announced an exclusive offer for customers who want to purchase the former's Meego smartphone, Nokia N9.

Starting this week, VIVA customers will be able to grab the Nokia N9 for free with the VIVA KD 30 Premium plan for which they receive unlimited monthly data, minutes, and SMS.

Furthermore, VIVA prepaid customers will also be able to get the Nokia N9 with a special promotion available for a limited time, which will be announced in due time.

Although Nokia announced that Nokia N9 would not be available worldwide, it looks like Kuwait was among the selected markets that received the MeeGo smartphone.

VIVA's Chief Executive Officer, Salman Al Badran stated, “As our customers are our number one priority, we are driven to seek the best offers with leading manufacturers. With Nokia leading in the region as the number one provider of handsets, there is an undeniably strong customer base and as such we are proud to be joining forces.”

Even though Nokia announced that the N9 would be its first and last MeeGo device, the Finnish company stated that the phone will be offered support and software updates until at least 2015.

Nokia N9 was positively received by the media, especially due to its stunning minimalist design and hardware configuration.

The partnership with VIVA is a true testament to Nokia's strong regional relationships with the industry's key players. Inline with our commitment to deliver the best value to our loyal customers, Nokia has been working closely with VIVA, to agree on a deal that will ultimately offer real value to customers,” said Tom Farrell, General Manager, Nokia Lower Gulf.

Nokia N9 is equipped with a 1GHz TI OMAP 3630 processor and a PowerVR SGX530 graphics processing unit.

The phone packs 16GB (or 64GB) of internal memory, 1GB of RAM and a 3.9-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16 million colors support and 480 x 854 pixels resolution.
